The Day of Silence is an annual event held on April 25. It's goal is to attract notice to the harassment of LGBT students through the silence of students in schools across the nation.
The official website has more information http://www.dayofsilence.org/index.html

As I am not a openly queer student I cannot speak for the level of harassment that occurs at Pine View, but I have heard plenty of slurs used every day since I hit middle school and feel this is a worthwhile activity to combat that alone.

I don't know if Progressive's has organized for this in the past. I'm hoping to organize a large-ish effort at Pine View this year. If anyone else is organizing, planning to organize, or would like to help please post here or contact me at camilleblue@comcast.net.

My tentative goals are to:
Mobilize a wider base of students
Supply information and speech cards
Obtain administrative approval
Organize a Breaking the Silence meeting at the end of the day

Suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.

That's not OCD, really. Thanks for the correction; I can't believe I missed that.
